In 2009, two teens in Rockport wanted to start a group for teens that would promote teens making healthy decisions and having fun doing so! One of those teens wanted to start a SADD chapter, the other wanted to start a YMCA Leader's Club. So they smooshed the two together and came up with SALADD- Students & Leaders Against Destructive Decisions! The group influences and informs their peers about making healthy decisions, offers volunteer opportunities for teens, and seeks to better the image of teens in the community. SALADD has hosted Rockport's first ever Prom Goes On Party, an anti-drinking Black Out Day, a Natural Beauty Day, a Costume Karaoke Party, and even went on a YMCA Teen Service Trip to New Orleans!

The 84 warmly welcomes back Cape Ann YMCA for another year of fighting against tobacco as a Chapter AND as a movement! 2012-2013 proves to be an exciting year full of opportunities to expose the tobacco industry, get more teens pumped about The 84, and take on The 84 Chapter Challenge. The 84 challenges you to reach 84 points this year! Good luck and welcome back!
